Met some friends for beer and pizza at Zero Degrees in Cardiff after work last night to make the most of the nice weather and their roof terraces. Zero Degrees is fast becoming my favourite town spot for post work drinks and food when the weather is nice - the pizzas are lush and their microbrews are very pleasant indeed. The Cardiff branch is on Westgate Street just opposite the Millennium Stadium - the roof terraces get the sun until late in the evening, and when there’s an event on, they make a great vantage point.
Last night my friend Jonny had tickets to see the Brazil vs Egypt mens football Olympic match, so we went for a pre-match knees up. Brazil supporters outnumbered the Egypt supporters by about 100 to 1 (no lie), so we all decided to support Egypt (they’ve just had a revolution - they need the help). Didn’t much matter, as they lost 2-3. We enjoyed the night out, anyway. Have to make the most of this weather while it lasts….
I took a few snaps of the general carnival vibe on St Mary Street. Loads of people playing drums, dancing, it was nice. There was a bubble machine blowing bubbles all over the Hayes (in front of the library), mounted police posing for photos with fans, all that kind of thing.
There was also a guy walking around with a sign that said “Mick Jagger please don’t support Brazil”, which none of us could understand. Any ideas?
