How to be a woman - Caitlin Moran
Finished reading this about a week ago. It’s one of the best books I’ve read in ages. So good that as soon as I had finished it, I went straight on Amazon and ordered copies to be sent to five of my girlfriends. If YOU are a woman, or have any interest whatsoever in women, you SHOULD DEFINITELY READ THIS.
I don’t want to say too much about it in case I spoil it, but it’s a very frank and refreshing take on many topics - among them, what to call your lady parts (I’ve always gone for ‘cunt’, or in polite company, ‘fanny’), female masturbation, boyfriends, shagging, giving birth, gossip mags, working at Melody Maker back in the glory days of British indie, and so on. Reading it is like sitting down with a good friend, a massive glass of red wine and gassing til the sun comes up.
