Discussions surrounding marriage
Shane and I have been together for a while. Occasionally, naturally, the talk will turn to marriage. Here is an example of a chat we had just now.
Him: when we get married, I’m wearing a kilt.
Me: really? When are we getting married?
Him: whenever you ask me. You’re a digital girl in a digital world.
Me: right. You’ll be waiting a long time. Do you want to get married?
Him: not really. Do you?
Me: well, I don’t believe in marriage as an institution, so no.
Him: I don’t want to get married, but it would be nice to make a symbolic gesture. (pause) Do you want a crumpet? (another pause) that wasn’t my gesture, by the way.
