Working through Chapter 11, wordcount 35,529.
First time I’ve had to work on this novel for ages, in between moving house and going on holiday and getting burgled
Getting closer to that magical 40k mark. Magical why? Because that’s - probably - about half way. Mind you, after all the editing and potching that will happen later, who knows where I am.

good riddance to a crappy year
ok, so that sounds a little melodramatic. Some pretty amazing things have happened this year, for sure. I flew back from a lovely two week holiday in Australia this morning, feeling all refreshed and revived (though seriously jetlagged after a 22 hour journey), drove back to Cardiff, to find our house had been burgled.

So, the word count isn’t looking too bad on my first dirty draft. I’ve not been feeling great this past week and we’re moving in a couple of days, so in between the cardboard box kingdom I’m building and the moat of snotty tissues around it, I haven’t really had a chance to write much.

Progress is much slower than I had hoped for on the novel. Given car accidents and whiplash and work related projects and trying to move house, life is busier than a busy thing. Still, no one writes a novel in a day, do they? I like the odd day when I can snatch an hour from the jaws of housework / dogwalking / various visits that remove me from Cardiff.
